 Alaska Sunrise

"FIRE & ICE"

I would love to take this Cruise! The Fire of Hawaii's volcanos and the Ice of Alaska's Glaciers.

This exotic adventure begins in Honolulu, the cosmopolitan heart of the Hawaiian archipelago and home of the Polynesian Cultural Center and Iolani Palace, one of the only royal palaces on American soil. Your 2 night package includes a tour to Pearl Harbor to view the Arizona Memorial, built where the ship was sunk on December 7, 1941. Then board your Carnival "Fun Ship"® for an exciting 19-night cruise of Hawaii, our 50th state and Alaska, our 49th state. Enjoy 2 days on the “Valley Isle” of Maui, first day at Lahaina, one of the most vibrant yet historic towns in Hawaii, with great restaurants, shopping, and watersports. Don’t miss the chance to experience the dramatic landscape of a dormant volcano, Haleakala, whose vast crater last erupted in 1790. Your second day is at Kahului, on Maui's only deep water harbor. From here you can tour to Ioa Valley and the Heritage Gardens, the Sugar Museum located in Pu'unene, or world-renowned Ho'okipa Beach, a windsurfing mecca. Bird-lovers be sure to visit the Kahana Pond State Wildlife Sanctuary, near Kahului Harbor. Then spend 2 days visiting the Big Island of Hawaii, the first day is in Hilo. Here the diversity of terrain is astonishing: black-lava deserts and snow-capped mountain peaks, alpine meadows, miles of beaches, and even a glacial lake. Take an optional tour to experience the astonishing beauty of Volcanoes National Park by helicopter. You will soar over thundering waterfalls, immense volcanoes, and fiery lava flows. View Mauna Loa, the largest volcano on earth, and still-erupting Kilauea volcano. You will also get to view the lava flow from the sea as you cruise from Hilo to Kona. This is an awesome sight. Your second day is in Kona, famous for its “Kona Coffee”. Spend your day snorkeling through colorful schools of tropical fish, horseback riding along the scenic trails and beaches, or wander through Hawaii Tropical Botanical Gardens, where the orchids and other exotic plants are offset by dramatic cliffs with foaming ocean below. Your last port in the Hawaiian archipelago is Nawiliwili on the island of Kauai. Known as the “Garden Isle,” because of its abundant rainfall, Kauai’s natural splendor makes up for its lack of opulent shopping malls and restaurants. Explore amazing Waimea Canyon and the stunning scenery of the Na Pali coast. Don’t miss romantic Fern Grotto, a rock cave that is a natural amphitheatre covered with natural ferns and full of sparkling waterfalls.

Aloha and E Komo Mai (Welcome!)

Then enjoy 5 relaxing days at sea as you cruise “North to Alaska”. You can relax in the “Spa Carnival”SM, dine in the gourmet Supper Club at the top of the ship, or try your luck in the casino. You will arrive in Vancouver and dock right in the heart of the old town at Canada Place, full of quaint shops and brick-lined streets. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery as you cruise out of the Bay and begin your Inside Passage cruise to Alaska. The first port in Alaska is Juneau. Unlike any other state capital in the nation, it is accessible only by sea or air, and it has Mendenhall Glacier within the city limits. A trip to the glacier is a must do! Your next day is spent cruising to magnificent tidewater glaciers – some towering 200 feet above the waterline. Marvel at spectacular scenery, including the snow-capped Fairweather Range. Glide through Glacier Bay, a wonderland of glaciers, mountains, wildlife and amazing natural beauty, unlike any place on Earth. Then on to the little town of Skagway, gateway to the Klondike Gold Rush. Many tours are available here, but perhaps the most famous is the "Scenic Railway of the World", Skagway’s famous White Pass & Yukon Railroad. You can purchase a tour to experience the breathtaking panorama of mountains, glaciers, gorges, waterfalls, tunnels, trestles and historic sites from the comfort of vintage parlor cars. Your final port in Alaska is Ketchikan, one of Alaska’s most unique communities! Here the rugged beauty of the Alaskan wilderness mixes comfortably with a thriving business community located in the Tongass National Forest and close to Misty Fjords National Monument. They have the best of both worlds, the mountains and the sea. This is the place for that fishing excursion, if you were planning one, or just stop by the local café and order their halibut fish and chips. It is delightful, fresh from the ocean onto your plate. You will be sad to leave Alaska but luckily you have one more day of cruising the Inside Passage; keep your eyes open for pods of whales, remote Indian fishing villages and eagles circling over verdant forests. “Aloha",(Farewell) Today you will clear customs and immigration in Vancouver and disembark. We at Cruise Destinations highly recommend a balcony stateroom for Alaska & Hawaii cruising. You will always be glad you upgraded your stateroom on this cruise. An optional Vancouver hotel package is available.
